An Introduction to Horse Racing and Horse Care

Horse racing competitions or games of sport involving two horses each trying to finish the race without first bumping into another horse. It is known as Thoroughbred racing. There are many countries where this is very popular. In the United States of America the Thoroughbred National Association is responsible for the regulation of horse racing. The PCA also has a World Cup Qualifying Race in Kentucky every two years where the top seven finishers from the American quarter mile race is chosen.

There are different types of horses used in such races: there being the jockey, the horse, the sire and the registrant. There are also different classes of those involved in those races, the Retriever, the Sleeper, the Quarter horse, the Practical horse, the Non-winner, the First place winner, the Best runner and the losing finisher. The different classes and ranks of horses have different responsibilities too, as with the different classes of horse. Jockeys are usually considered to be in charge of winning or placing the highest in the competition.

Some of the most famous names: in the sport are Thoroughbred careers trainer Ray Baits, Frank Shamrock, Gary Fisher, Bill Poulter and John D’Amato. Thoroughbreds are bred specifically to win and this is what they do best, so naturally they have to excel in other areas too. They need to be fast, agile and confident. They should be able to jump fences, gallop, turn in the same direction and be comfortable on the edge of a jump. They need to be comfortable jumping over fences without injury.

Thoroughbreds are not only used for the Thoroughbred competition: but also for the Dressage, Jumping and Show classes. Jockeys need to be able to mount, trail, sit, turn, jump and work with wild animals and obstacles. This makes them some of the most versatile and expensive animals in the sport of horse sports. They are often used in the Olympic Games as well.

Domesticated horses fall into a number of different classes: depending on their original country of origin. They can be equine, domestic, farm or Sporting horses. These animals are bred for light work or for use in racing and polo events.

There are basically two types of domesticated horse: the American English and British Thoroughbreds. British Thoroughbreds are of British origin and crossbreeds with the American English Thoroughbred, so are considered a class apart.

The English breed of horse: is the most popular and one of the most successful. In terms of winning percentage, the American English is second only to the British Thoroughbred but still greatly outnumbered by the Arabians and Bobolas. All of these horses are widely available and affordable at various online sources, which make it easy to compete and train horses without having to pay high rates for a private trainer.
